Over the past few years, Amazon has acquired and/or launched various services. Most of them revolve around making e-commerce better. Today, Amazon sells everything from books to grocery items and even shoes via its Zappos.com acquisition.
From a content side, Amazon also allows publishers to independently publish their content on Amazon.com — digitally or via physical media (DVDs, CDs, etc.). The main service behind that is Createspace. Here’s how you can publish books, audio CDs, MP3s, DVDs and video downloads via Amazon.com.
- Visit www.createspace.com
- Create an account.
- Select the product you wish to create.
- Provide the necessary materials to Amazon.com / Createspace.
- After Amazon reviews the content, it will be available for sale via Amazon.com or via Createspace directly.
While the entire publishing process takes 5 steps, don’t underestimate the reach of this service. Amazon.com reaches millions of users every month. And your product is not distinguished as being a “self published” product.
Createspace is a great way for independent content creators, including web content creators to sell a portfolio of creative products.

As a company, Amazon.com has grown by leaps and bounds. What started as an online bookstore, carries more products than a traditional retailer with far greater convenience and pricing today. It is also no surprise that Amazon has been trying to get into the digital distribution market. It is a lucrative market that has yet to reach its potential. In this post, I’ll highlight how you can publish your content on the Kindle.
Amazon’s Kindle platform is perhaps the most advanced digital publishing text platform. Not because of the Kindle hardware, but because of the content distribution strategy. You can purchase a book on the Kindle store and read it on the Kindle or the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Android devices. This functionality makes it a no brainer for those looking to make their text content available on multiple devices. Publishing on the Kindle is easy.
- Visit dtp.amazon.com
- Create an account.
- Create a title and make sure that it is formatted as an HTML file.
- Preview the HTML file using the Kindle simulator.
- Set the price, royalty and availability options.
- Publish
That’s it. Within a few hours, your content will be accessible via the Kindle. Before you hit the publish button, please make sure that you preview your HTML file. What may appear properly on your browser may not appear to work on the Kindle.
